Yesterday morning I was reading a book titled “Preparation for the End Time” by Norman Gulley, a theologian that I had taken course work under, during my days in school.
He was making the point that we have to keep in mind how Satan approached his rebellion in Heaven to prepare for his similar approach in these end times here on earth. One thought kept with me all day and I’ll paraphrase it because it was interwoven with quoted sentences from another source that he developed on, but the thought was this…
Satan nurtured his intent to challenge God but kept that discreet while he sought to persuade the majority of angels to side with him by convincing them in their minds that he was right and God is wrong.
Now there is no specific verse that says exactly that in that exact phrase, but it is conceivable and the principles he shared in developing that position were intriguing to me.
The idea that Satan hid his ultimate motives while deceptively creating followers is very likely. A thief doesn’t immediately announce his ill-intentions. Instead, he works in deception.
We know from Isaiah 14:14 that Satan said “I will make myself like the Most High” and we know from Ezekiel 28:15 that God said of him, “You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till unrighteousness was found in you.”
As evening came and I was ready to put this study to rest and move on, I remembered that I wanted to watch a live YouTube video of Glenn Beck explaining the research he and his staff did regarding the DNC, Ukraine, and the missing billions. (If you want to know about the video, just ask me and I will be happy to send you the link.)
It struck me that the same fake news tactics used by Satan in Heaven is the same fake news tactics he is using here on earth through our political system. If Satan can blind the eyes of emotionally charged people he can keep them away from the solid truth of God’s Word (2 Corinthians 4:4).
The idea that evil politicians are hiding their ultimate motives while deceptively creating followers is very likely, too. Thieves don’t immediately announce their ill-intentions. Instead, they work in deception.
Politicians seem to be easy prey for the roaring Lion, and their willingness to follow his tactics may be because they have the same lust for power and control with seared consciences willing “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10).
There is likely a deeper prophetic reason for why Satan has been infusing himself into our political system, and while he is happy to influence either of our American political parties it is obvious that one of those parties has welcomed him.
I suspect that the deeper prophetic reason for Satan’s involvement in Washington may have something to do with the unfolding of Revelation 13:1-18 and am hoping to share more about it this Sunday for our First Sunday Prophecy Outlook time.
The Apostle Paul said to his flock that he spoke to them about prophecy because he didn’t want them to “be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs” (2 Corinthians 2:11 ESV).
I agree with the Apostle Paul.
