This is an update on our last post at https://www.crosshopechapel.org/sunday-at-sonnys/ about having Sunday at Sonny’s this coming weekend on October 1, 2017.
Update: Sonny’s BBQ Restaurant has asked us to arrive at 10:45 AM to get seating together, so let’s just meet there at Sonny’s and not at the chapel. If you come a little later or closer to 11:00 AM, no problem, we’ll save a seat for you. Not meeting first may also work good for us because we’ve had a problem arise at our chapel.
Communion: Let’s plan on having communion on Sunday, October 8, 2017.
Payment: We’ll have Sonny’s put it all on one check for payment to be covered with the church account and then in the weeks ahead all who are able can simply place the amount of their meal in the “Love” box at the chapel. This way if you do have a tight budget you can participate without having to ask and the church will happily cover it. Sometime back at Cracker Barrel we did it this way when we had a large group with visitors and it worked out great and the amount of that expense was covered without detracting from any church obligations.
Providence: Some of you know that was a bit hesitant about not being at the chapel on Sunday morning, in case of visitors or upsetting the schedule, but a problem has arisen this week at the chapel that makes me think of God’s provision and timing. When I went in the chapel on Monday there was a strong gasoline and exhaust smell in the chapel. It was so bad that I couldn’t work in there and had to leave, even after using fans to air it out. I had thought it might have been caused by one of the A/C trucks maybe leaving their engine running with the exhaust blowing on our back door. However it was still bad Monday night, yesterday afternoon, and when I stopped in this morning at 7:00 AM. I suspect another tenant in the building has gasoline and/or some type of motor within their suite that is sharing the smell overhead. I have contacted our landlord, but it may be providential now that we will have Sunday at Sonny’s.
