About Us

Our church fellowship began on January 6, 2011, meeting on Sunday morning at a community room of a Ryan’s Restaurant on Rangeline Road near I-10 in Tillman’s Corner, Alabama. The manager allowed us to use the room at no cost if we ordered their buffet breakfast, which we did and enjoyed, but after several weeks we all seemed to have gotten our fill of that buffet.

We soon moved our meetings to the pastor’s house in West Mobile, Alabama and after one year we leased a retail office space on Schillinger Road South. In 2016 we moved to our current location at Lifeline Court near the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Snow Road, where we are enjoying a little more room for fellowship.

Our Mission…

CrossHope Chapel “exists to love God and to make His love known by worshiping, witnessing, and waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.” We hold this in light of Matthew 22:37-39 and seek to fulfill along with Matthew 28:18-20 in partnership with like-minded ministries that can reach further than us in advancing the Great Commission.

Our Philosophy…

CrossHope Chapel holds to three biblical purposes and seven Governing Values that guide our philosophy of doing church and how we put that into practice as we gather in fellowship as a church family.

Our Beliefs…

CrossHope Chapel subscribes to traditional Christian theology, historical biblical interpretations, and the 3-point beliefs of faith, hope, and love as outlined in our Statement of Faith and as an expression of our fundamental beliefs, recorded in our By-Laws, which governs the doctrines of our pastoral leadership.

Our Leadership…

CrossHope Chapel was founded by Steve Durkac, who while serving as a hospital chaplain at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama sensed God calling him to start a simpler church alternative that centered around teaching God’s Word verse by verse.

Our Affiliation…

CrossHope Chapel is an autonomous, self-governing, and nondenominational church organization under headship of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Our Beginnings we were part of a Southern Baptist church plant mission, but are nondenominational by our Bylaws.

Our Vision…

CrossHope Chapel exists by the will of God and we are committed to trusting in the Holy Spirit (Zechariah 4:6) for the direction and future of our fellowship’s growth. We are both content with whoever or how many the Lord sends to us, and restless in our desire to reach more, but we will not defined by the number of budgets, buildings, or butts in our seats.
