Is the Chapel moving? Probably, but not anytime soon or at least no decision has been made, although I found a potential location in the west Mobile area that could accommodate up to 50 people comfortably, if needed.
In my mind, I have the number of 50 people as a potential attendance max that could still allow CrossHope Chapel to maintain our values of how we do church. (I realize that the number 50 is more like an hypothesis of an experiment that we may or may not have to determine and ultimately however many of whoever God sends our way is the number I am most grateful for because the biblical standard of Matthew 18:20 is “two or three” for Jesus to be with us.)
I have another number in mind, a range of 30 to 40 people in potential attendance with our fellowship, and I know that our current location is not able to comfortably accommodate much more than 20, especially on potluck Sundays.
With the lease about up at our Chapel on Schillinger Road and the likely increase in price, I have been looking at available options that could comfortably accommodate more people. Nearly all that I’ve found on the west side has been expensive. The least expensive option I had found was a monthly lease of $1100 but the space was the exact same size of what we are now in.
Yesterday I looked at a location on Lifeline Court that looks like a good match for the criteria of accommodating up to 50, if needed, and is within the west Mobile area. The location I looked at yesterday is in a retail strip-mall type spot just north of Airport Blvd off Snow Road on Lifeline Court.
If you do Google Map you will find the location here: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lifeline+Ct,+Mobile,+ALfirstname.lastname@example.org,-88.2789078,16.5z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x889bb1b7b6269903:0xf80b71e1cc488ae2!8m2!3d30.6761853!4d-88.2784485?hl=en
This location is larger than where we meet now (our current inside space is 19′ x 48′ and this space on Lifeline Ct is 24′ x 65′). I am still talking with the owner about price and need to address some cosmetic things like a potential kitchen set-up area and removal of the previous tenants’ dance class wall mirrors.
The owner has given me a key so I can show any one interested in taking a look, or maybe after church on Sunday, we can drive over there and look.
Last night after Midweek Fellowship, we drove over there and took a quick look even though the electricity was off. Some of the issues to consider and details about it, I want to share with you all, but need to do that off-line on Sunday or as we talk before than.
