This coming Sunday, July 18th, we will open to the 19th chapter of Matthew as we simply teach the Bible simply.
Last Sunday we were in the 18th chapter of Matthew and we got to spend some time discussing Jesus’ lesson to the disciples in His statement, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3 NIV).
We were able to go through the entire 18th chapter and see how Jesus further explained that we not only come to Him with the innocent intent of a child-like faith but that we must also treat others in the church as we would as children.
We read Jesus’ parable of the wondering sheep, His instructions regarding discipline within the church, and the need to extend forgiveness to others.
This week we move on to the 19th chapter of Matthew and we will see that the Pharisees are back to try to trip Jesus up before the crowds. They are set on trying to discredit Jesus before the people following Him in hopes that they will stop and turn against Him.
We’ll get into it this Sunday, and I’m looking forward to it, too, as we seek to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18 NIV).
