I wanted to let you know that our church has made contributions to two relief organization, Second Harvest and Samaritan’s Purse, both involved in different ways with disaster relief for the residents of Baton Rouge, Louisiana flooding areas.
Second Harvest is a New Orleans food bank supplying food right now to displaced families and is partnering with Rouse Food Stores, who also lost a store in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Second Harvest has a four star rating as a non-profit with 95% of their contributions going directly to their mission of providing food to the needy, and in this case the flood victims.
Samaritan’s Purse is our trusted go-to contribution partner for U.S. Disaster Relief and they have people in the flooded area as of today assessing the flooding and resident needs, as well as planning for the relief trucks and volunteers to follow as the water recedes.
In the mean time, let’s be praying for Georgette’s family in the midst of the flooding and others who are grappling to cope and find hope in their time of survival.
