Who is Jesus Christ?
We realize that just being a church doesn’t mean a congregation is Christian and disciples of Jesus Christ. The gospel can mean different things to different people, especially in today’s politically incorrect climate.
For us, the Gospel in understand in the Son of God, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We gather together in the Lordship of Jesus Christ with the purpose of growing in His grace and knowledge of Him.
The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, reveals to us the plan of redemption and points us to the Lord Jesus Christ as our Redeemer. In John 5:39 Jesus said, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” When we open to the pages of Scripture we see that…
Jesus is the Creator
Scripture says...”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” -John 1:1-3
And…“which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ”-Ephesians 3:9
Jesus is the Lord
Jesus said… “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” -John 14:6
Jesus is the Savior
Jesus came to earth to save us…“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” -John 3:16
Jesus was crucified for your sins…“And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!” -Matthew 27:29
Jesus is the Soon Coming King
Jesus is returning as King of Kings…“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” -Revelation 19:11-16 (NIV)
Jesus is the only Way of Salvation
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” -Acts 4:12
Jesus is the only Mediator between us and God
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” -1 Timothy 2:5
Do You Know Jesus?
Trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is means to know Him.
The Bible teaches that God loves you unconditionally, that Jesus paid the price for the penalty of your sins on Calvary’s cross, and the prophecies of Revelation point to the nearness of Christ’s return!
You are not forced to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, but are given a free will to choose Him, believe in Him, and trust in Him for your salvation.
It is by asking for salvation that we receive and by confessing that we are forgiven. 1 John 1:9 reads: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
The prayer that goes something like this…
Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I know I cannot save myself. Now in faith I ask your forgiveness. I repent of my sins and I accept your gift of eternal life. I thank you for dying for me on Calvary’s cross. I accept you and trust you as Savior and Lord of my life. Amen
…is what Jesus affirmed when he said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life” (John 6:47).
