Who We Are

Our church began meeting on January 6, 2011, as an informal gathering on Sunday morning at a community room of a Ryan’s Restaurant on Rangeline Road near I-10 in Tillman’s Corner, Alabama.

The manager allowed us to use the room at no cost if we ordered their buffet breakfast, which we did and enjoyed, but after several weeks we all seemed to have gotten our fill of that buffet.

We soon moved our meetings to the pastor’s house in west Mobile, Alabama and after one year we leased a retail office space on Schillinger Road South. In 2016 we moved to our current location at Lifeline Court near the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Snow Road, where we are enjoying a little more room for fellowship.

Mission…

CrossHope Chapel exists to love God and to make His love known by worshiping, witnessing, and waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Values…

CrossHope Chapel holds to three biblical purposes and seven Governing Values that guide our philosophy of doing church.

Beliefs…

CrossHope Chapel affirms the inerrancy, supremacy, and sufficiency of the Bible and we hold to a Statement of Faith as an expression of essential beliefs.

Pastor…

CrossHope Chapel was founded by Steve Durkac, who while serving as a hospital chaplain at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama began to sense God’s leading to plant an informal church.

Affiliation…

CrossHope Chapel is an autonomous, self-governing, and non-denominational, yet part of the network of Calvary Chapel churches as part of the Calvary Global Network.

Logo…

CrossHope Chapel‘s logo is an encircled cross and Bible. There are three aspects to our logo that we hope it communicates…

    • the cross of Christ is out front, foremost, and center of our church,
    • the Bible is open because we conversationally teach it book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse,
    • an encircling line represents our fellowship in the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the corners of the Bible extend outside the circle as a reminder that our growth in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ flows beyond our church gatherings to our community, friends, and family.
