A Reason to Have Hope
I want to share with you a reason to have hope about our future. Let me first give you a little back story…
When Governor Ivey made the decision yesterday that Alabama Public Schools would not be going back to their classrooms for the remainder of the school year, my family was a bit on edge wondering if Faith Academy would follow suit.
This is Payton’s senior year and Faith Academy plans a lot of Senior activities for its graduation class. They work hard at getting their High School students ahead of the academic curve so they can have a series of special events for them in the Spring before graduation.
For instance, today would have been the start of those events and special activities, including special special focuses preparing them life ahead. Today was their scheduled “Seniors Skip Day” where they had plans to be off somewhere other than school property.
Yesterday evening the Faith Academy administration sent out a message that they were having a meeting this morning to discuss and respond with a plan in light of the Alabama State decision.
Ultimately, this mornings meeting made the decision to not go headlong with the public schools but to extend the online course work through April 17, originally it was April 6. The Faith Academy administrators also communicated this morning that they want to be able to resume traditional class schedules after that, thus saving the senior class some activities and its graduation ceremony.
While that is a Praise the Lord moment for our family and every family of a Faith Academy Senior, what is really a shinning reason of hope is what happened outside the school while the administrators were having that morning meeting.
Here is the reason for us to have hope in our future…
While the administrators gathered for the meeting, a large gathering of 40+ Faith Academy seniors gathered out front around the school flag pole, wearing their school uniforms, on what was suppose to be their Senior Skip Day, to pray and give praise to the Lord is worship!
A video and some pictures showed up on Facebook and it was moving. It appears about 40 to 50 Seniors were present. I kept thinking, I would not have done this, but thank the Lord that we have a generation of God-fearing youth who are calling on the Name of the Lord.
For me, that is a reason to have hope in our future.
